Keep your valuables  in a safe place and don’t give out private information such as address, date of birth, social security number or banking information  to people on the phone,  online  in person.

If you have questions regarding crime in an area contact the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department non emergency  number;  it is listed in the phone book.

If you are the victim of a crime call 911.

Check back into DFCS,  if you wish to continue to receive services.

You will need  car insurance on ANY vehicle you drive.   This is MANDATORY.   If you cannot obtain a vehicle you will need to look at alternatives: i.e. Bike, walk, car pool, Dial a ride, phone a friend or co-worker, or use www.xpressga.com.

BE prepared for this or it WILL become a BIG hassle.

If you have trouble because you have to move around, contact the Homeless liaison at your school or the board of education for help.

If a high school diploma isn’t possible,  go to the G.E.D link for help in obtaining an alternative diploma.  Much of the G.E.D. program can be done on your own schedule but you will need to be available for classroom work.

Students in Georgia may be eligible for Hope Scholarship, or other federal grants to attend vocational/technical school or college.  Talk to you Case Worker,  Casa,  or school counselor.   Check the link for Hope Scholarship.

If you leave DFCS care,  you still may be eligible for Medicaid until you turn 19.   Check with your Case Worker.

If you are not eligible for Medicaid check Kaiser Permanente/ under their  Bridge Program or check with your employer or school health care program.

Emergency Medical treatment for life threatening illness or injury can be obtained though a hospital emergency room REGARDLESS of insurance status.  You will still be billed for the services.
